LT Awards 2026: A Major International Recognition for Game Tree

Game Tree has been named a finalist in the «Best Learning Technologies Project – Commercial Sector» and «Best Learning Platform Implementation» categories at this year’s Learning Technologies Awards. The Learning Technologies Awards are one of the most independent and highly regarded awards programmes in the Learning & Development industry, attracting hundreds of entries from leading organisations around the world. Now that the excitement, joy and pride have settled in, let’s take a closer look at how we achieved this remarkable recognition!

The Business Challenge

Designing a Playful Learning Ecosystem

The project called for something very different: a cloud-based platform with advanced instructional design capabilities, capable of serving as the central hub of an entire learning ecosystem. Using the LearnWorlds platform as our foundation, we created the following

An Integrated Learning Ecosystem

We designed a fully customized ecosystem incorporating three interconnected learning programs:

  1. Onboarding eLearning for both new joiners and existing employees, ensuring the entire team was aligned.
  2. Line Manager Enablement eLearning for team leaders and managers.
  3. Customer Experience eLearning for all employees.

These three programs did not operate independently. Together, they formed a unified and structured framework that standardized knowledge transfer, strengthened manager-led onboarding, and supported continuous learning beyond the initial onboarding experience.

A Blended Onboarding Journey

We integrated non-digital elements into the new joiner journey, which we called “Human Touchpoints”. These are structured interactions between New Joiners, Line Managers and Buddies, adding a human dimension to the digital learning experience.

A Personalized Learning Environment

The Onboarding journey provides a seamless transition to the company’s existing Knowledge Base on Atlassian Confluence. Each New Joiner can also be introduced to their department and meet the members of their team. At the same time, Orthology’s identity and branding shape the visual experience, while the mascot “Lógis” acts as an avatar and guide throughout the program.

Community Within the Onboarding Journey

The eLearning experience creates multiple opportunities for informal and collaborative learning, including pulse surveys, comments and social-media-style reactions, helping learners connect and engage with the experience.

Experiential & Playful Design

We built the ecosystem around David Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle, combining interactive exercises, moments for reflection and playful activities to create a more engaging and meaningful learning experience.

Reporting & Evaluation Capabilities

The platform provides extensive reporting and monitoring capabilities, allowing us to track the learner’s experience and continuously improve it through an agile approach. At the same time, stakeholders, through enhanced role permissions, could monitor New Joiners’ engagement and participation throughout the journey.

Scalability

The solution is designed to evolve continuously, with content updates and improvements that can be made as the organization’s needs change. The Onboarding ecosystem remains continuously active, ensuring that every new team member can immediately enter an established learning journey. Finally, AI-powered tools make content adaptations and transformations significantly faster and easier, supporting the ongoing evolution of the ecosystem.

The Elements of Innovation

What truly set this project apart was not the technology alone, but the way it brought together people, technology and workplace practice into one integrated system. The approach was grounded in a learning model designed to strengthen the connection between new and existing employees, while also responding to the needs of a new, digitally confident generation. At the same time, the blended learning architecture, with its integrated “Human Touchpoints”, combined the flexibility of asynchronous learning with the value of human interaction. Emphasis was placed on creating a shared learning journey across different roles, strengthening consistency, collaboration and a sense of connection across the team. In addition, as mentioned earlier, the design was built around the principles of experiential learning. This means that team members are not simply acquiring knowledge; they are encouraged to actively process it and apply it to their day-to-day work. Finally, the digitalization of the company’s policies made them more accessible to the entire team, while also enabling employees to electronically acknowledge that they had received and reviewed the relevant information. This, in turn, supported the organization’s compliance with ISO standards.

The Impact

The project was evaluated using the Kirkpatrick Four Levels® model, through a mixed-method approach combining an employee questionnaire, a structured interview with the CEO, a follow-up CEO questionnaire, and company KPIs. The results were impressive across all three dimensions – organizational, learning and business impact:

  • 100% program completion
  • 67% reduction in Onboarding duration, from 6 months to just 2
  • 4.73/5 overall organizational impact
  • 4.67/5 overall platform user experience
  • 4.86/5 for faster alignment with the company culture
  • Net Promoter Score (NPS): +71
  • Knowledge, confidence and engagement increased by 2.5 points

The company’s CEO highlighted the greatest value of the project as:

  • Faster time to productivity
  • Greater consistency of knowledge
  • Reduced reliance on experienced managers for repetitive onboarding processes, allowing them to focus more on coaching, development and strategic business priorities

Line Managers reported greater clarity around setting expectations and planning check-ins from day one. New team members described the experience as structured, welcoming and meaningful.

Closing

The Learning Technologies Awards are far more than a simple recognition. They are independent awards, with a strict separation between sponsorship and judging. The judging panel is internationally recognized and highly rigorous. And to be shortlisted, you need more than a good idea – you need hard facts, measurable results and clear evidence of the value delivered to the client. To put our recognition into perspective, organizations recognized alongside us included AstraZeneca, Ernst & Young and NIIT. And among this year’s shortlisted organizations are Unilever, HSBC, IKEA, BMW Group, Diageo, Mastercard, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Lloyds Banking Group, NatWest, Samsung Electronics Europe, Salesforce, Accenture, Meta and ING. The “Orthology Onboarding Journey” demonstrates that the real value of technology lies not only in the tools themselves, but in how they connect with people and with the way work happens every day. Being recognized at the Learning Technologies Awards confirms something we already knew. When learning is thoughtfully designed, the outcome is not simply a training, it becomes an experience that can meaningfully change the way an organization works. This is the approach behind every solution we deliver at Game Tree: Learning experiences that go beyond theory and translate into behavioral change and measurable business results.
